Superior Central Artist in Residency Program

Once again this year we were able to provide an  artist for an artist in residency program at Superior Central Elementary for the 2024/25 school year. This program involved an artist collaborating with a classroom teacher for 12 weeks (2 classes per week)  of art education with the theme: How does our environment influence art makers?  This residency was artist taught  for two hours per week in two 4th grade classrooms, a 3rd and a 5th grade classroom. The artist explored questions of her personal art inspiration surrounding certain cultural circumstances in the history of human art creation and helped students imagine the kinds of art might make if they had lived at that time.

Thank you to Michigan Arts and Culture Council for the Art in Education Expereince Program which made this residency possible.
